Scientific Description
Mission and objectives
ISTTOK is a tokamak with a circular cross-section (R=460mm, r=85mm), a poloidal graphite limiter and an iron core transformer (0.2 Vs) with a tunable magnetic field from 0.4 up to 0.8 T.Despite it's small size, ISTTOK is the only tokamak regularly operating in AC, achieving half a second discharge of ~5kA, 120 eV temperature and a density 5.10^18. ISTTOK is very flexible and with one of the shortest "time-to-market" experimental campaigns.
