Scientific Description
Mission and objectives
France Génomique is a national genomics and bioinformatics distributed infrastructure. It is dedicated to three missions:(i) To maintain French genomics and bioinformatics at the best international level by constantly evaluating and implementing the last generation technologies, developing new methodologies, and disseminating its knowledge and know-how to the community;(ii) To offer to the French (and European) research community cutting-edge services in genomics and bioinformatics. Although certain services could be provided by the private sector, it is critical that the best scientific projects in biology / biotechnology could rely on a state-of-the-art national infrastructure to access genomic technologies;(iii) To participate in large scale genomics projects with a high international visibility and scientific impact, as well as great medium to long term economic value. International visibility is essential for France Génomique to have access to the latest technologies and to the best talents, and thus to maintain a virtuous circle of excellence in the field.
