The Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC) is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and forms part of the ESRC Big Data Network (Phase 2). Led by the University of Leeds and University College London (UCL), in partnership with the Universities of Liverpool and Oxford, the Centre is working with consumer organisations to open up previously unavailable data for social science research and for the benefit of wider society. The CDRC provides researchers with access to a range of consumer data through its three-tiered service; from open and safeguarded datasets that can be downloaded, to controlled data accessed via secure labs. As well as providing access to data, the Centre is generating high impact research projects and delivering a wide range of training and capacity building activities. The CDRC’s aim is to support access to new and novel forms of data and to improve data analytics capacity in ways which will advance social science and help drive economic growth.
