Mission and objectives
JRC-Geel operates a laboratory radionuclide metrology since 1960. Its main objectives are to realise the unit Bq for many radionuclides, to support establishment of international equivalence in te field of radioactivity, to provide accurate decay data, to provide primary standards to be used for European proficiency tests. It supports the JRC work programme and is institutionally funded. RADMET is since 2014 part of the EUFRAT open access scheme. The RADMET laboratories contribute to CCRI key comparisons and working groups. It is also a member of the ICRM (International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology). RADMET has been and is participating to many European projects under the auspice of EURAMET.
