GBIF—the Global Biodiversity Information Facility—is an international network and research infrastructure aimed at providing anyone, anywhere, open access to data about all types of life on Earth.

Primary biodiversity data from GBIF are among others used in several niche modelling studies trying to estimate the effects of climate change on a selected set of species in a certain region.
