Scientific Description
CYRCé is a research infrastructure located in Strasbourg (France) in an academic environment. The RI consists of a medium-energy cyclotron associated with a radiochemistry lab (4 hot cells for R&D and 7 for the GMP area) and a multimodality preclinical imaging platform (PET/SPECT/CT/Optical). Its aim is to produce various isotopes for PET and SPECT imaging and to develop innovative imaging agents. With a very high current (200 µA standard upgradable up to 500µA) and proton energy ranging from 16 to 25 MeV, the cyclotron can produce more than 15 isotopes on a dual port that can support up to 4 targets each. It can also produce very low current (10nA) for radiobiology application. The RI is dedicated to preclinical studies and clinical trials through collaborations and research projects with academic partners and private companies. A parallel activity of CYRCé includes education, training and teaching of physicists, chemists, pharmacists and biologists for radionuclides production, radiochemistry, quality control of radiopharmaceuticals and their uses in medical imaging. The multidisciplinary RI covers all the steps of nuclear imaging from isotope production, chemistry, radiochemistry and biology, to medical imaging.
