Scientific Description
The Multipurpose Analytical Electron Microscope JEM-2800 (JEOL JEM-2800) is an electron microscope (200keV) with the capacity to perform high-resolution, high-throughput TEM and S/TEM imaging, EDS and tomography. The EM is equipped with an EDS (energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer) to collect X-rays from the samples up to 0.98 steradiants solid angle from a detection area of 100mm². This expands the elemental mapping capability exponentially. Besides the electron microscopy itself, the main objectives are sample preparation and image analysis. The principle of service stipulates that the EM-Facility is managed by a scientific Head plus a Manager. This ensures state-of-the-art technologies and high quality standards and control. The EM-Facility will operate according to full cost accounting principles and the costs of services are charged to the users.
