UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research is a multidisciplinary centre for research funded by an initiative of the Irish Higher Education Authority, the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI). Located on the 300-acre Belfield campus of University College Dublin (UCD), the largest university in Ireland, UCD Conway Institute brings together over 550 research staff from all over the University and its associated teaching hospitals. UCD Conway Institute is an interdisciplinary research centre exploring fundamental mechanisms of chronic disease for novel diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.UCD Conway Institute is a a global leader in biomedical research and through partnerships translates this knowledge to benefit patients.Research at UCD Conway focuses on the molecular pathogenic mechanisms that underlie major chronic diseases: diabetes, vascular diseases, cancer and neurodegeneration. The approach addresses important biomedical questions combining human potential and innovative technologies to develop creative solutions for exploring, understanding, and developing new treatments for human diseases. Through interdisciplinary programmes in the areas below, the close collaboration of scientists with clinicians and industry partners underpins the translational nature of the centre's research.

Imaging Core

The UCD Conway Imaging Core where the focus is on providing contemporary imaging technologies and know-how to researchers. The consolidated instrumentation suite spans all aspects of light and electron microscopy as well as sample preparation and image processing and analysis facilities. The Core team use their technical expertise to assist in the widest possible range of applications for microscopy, in advancing the development of new applications and indeed new imaging technologies.

Flow Cytometry Core

The UCD Conway Flow Cytometry Core offers access to a good range of flow cytometers, cell sorter and multiplexing instrumentation. We assist with the project discussion, pannel design, analysis and reanalysis of the data and publication of the results. We offer customised and personalised training courses.

Genomics Core

The Genomics Core has a range of facilities for next-generation sequencing, real-time PCR and microarray analysis as well as offering custom bioinformatics analysis. The facility provides genomics solutions to academic and commercial customers in a customisable range of services for each stage of the research pathway, from experimental design and strategy to final publication.

Proteomics Core

The UCD Conway Proteomics Core service is capable of covering all aspects of modern proteomic science including quantitative proteomics, protein post-translational modifications and protein-protein interactions. We offer the dedicated strategic support of our team, both on the analytical and bioinformatics side, to enable our research and commercial partners to take full advantage of their results.
