Scientific Description
Statement from the Director of Research: The Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science is developing world-leading academic research in all three areas, with a strong emphasis on research which also has a direct impact in real life application areas. The Mathematics department has 4 main areas of Research: 1) Algebraic Combinatorics co-ordinated by Professor Simon Cox; 2) Mathematical Modelling of Structures, Solids and Fluids co-ordinated by Professor Simon Cox; 3) Quantum Structures, Information and Control Group co-ordinated by Dr Daniel Burgarth (Reader); and 4) Statistics co-ordinated by Dr Kim Kenobi.
